Painting the roses red

We have an old dirty fire hydrant in our yard. Brian thought it would be an awesome project for the kids to give it a fresh coat of paint. Turns out he was right. The kids loved it. And now they notice other fire hydrants around town and how ours looks WAY better:)

California

Every summer the kids and I take a little road trip to California to see my sister. It is a very long drive (12 hrs-thank goodness for dvd players) but we love it, so we go. Usually it is pretty uneventful. Its just a nice week (or so) away to visit. This year we were jam packed with activities.We went to Monterey and went to the aquarium. We went to 3 different beaches. A water park (like 7peaks or a raging waters). Shopping, of course. Swimming everyday. Did an overnight in Malibu. Visited the Beverly Hills Sprinkles (any of you out there cupcake lovers? Really good!) And with all of that, and taking care of my 4+2(my sisters)kids I still had time to read a good book! How can you go wrong with all of that? Well, you cant!I wanted to throw in this little beauty for fun. This is me and my sister the day we were at the water park. And the reason why I am exposing you to the horror? This summer I have been the tannest I have ever gotten in my entire life! It was really nice. I felt pretty good about my color. It was fun to be tan. Then I sit next to my sister...................and I am sure you can imagine how I feel about my tan now :(

Kennedy is 3!

MY baby turned 3 July 5th. She was so excited for her birthday this year. She talked about it for a month before. She even had it all planned out.
"10 blue balloons and a puppy pillow pet"
That is what she wanted. Of course we threw in a few other gifts along with. She had a very good day.

I was searching on brian's laptop for Sheridan's bday pictures, so that I could finally do her birthday post, when I came across this little gem!This is Kennedy. Obviously a long time ago. I dont remember who made this nice little "crown" for her. (but it has Sheridan written all over it,no pun intended) Anyway, it was funny to see today. Thought I would share it with you:)

Possession

The girls computer lab teacher from school had her 1st book published! It was kind of exciting. I bought a copy on Tuesday (when it was released). Then on Saturday I took them to Barnes and Nobles to her signing. It was so much fun. They stood in line, and she signed the book to them and chatted with them for a bit. She was really nice and funny.So if you are interested in checking it out: Possession by Alana Johnson. It is a YA distopian (like Hunger Games, and the Uglies series). I read it last week and was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed it:)
Oh, and for any of you that care.......Aly Condie (the author of Matched) was there getting her copy of Possession signed too). If I would have had something intelligent to say to her I would have stopped her to say hi. Unfortunately I did not:(

Jack&Brian+camping=GNO!

Fathers and sons was this weekend. Brian and Jacks first, by the way. So the girls and I had ourselves some fun too! It started with Judy Moody not so bummer summer (cute). Then to the mall (of course, Sheridan was with us). We had us some chick fil-a (so good!) And our evening ended with each of us making a movie pick. (which made our night end at 1am!)And just so you know, this beaut of a picture took FOREVER to get! It took about 16 tries to get the centering right. I still didnt even really get it right, but this one was the best. Probably more funny for me than you to look at it because I know what was going on to get the shot.
